Colony 5, 2000
Colony 5 is located on a little island in the northern part of Russia.
It is a highly secured prison for murderers, men who have commited rape on children, and others who were sentenced to death and should have been executed by a shot in the back of the head.
But in 1994 Russia decided , in order to get admission to the Council of Europe, to change death penalty to imprisonment for life.
The worn down prison accommodates about 100 prisoners who are serving of their sentences , all sharing the same hope of getting out after 25 years.
