"Tsunami aftermath, Sri Lanka"
On December 26, 2004, an earthquake measuring 9.3 on the Richter scale set off a tsunami that devastated nine countries in the Indian Ocean. Indonesia and Sri Lanka were among the hardest hit. While the true death toll will never be known, it is estimated that more than 230,000 people died.
