The land that doesnt exist
Somaliland - the northern part of Somalia declared themself independent in 1991. They have their own parlament, their own elections, their own military and their own currency. But no other country has recognized them as a country. The area is much more stabile then the rest of Somalia, and they have made good democratic and economic progress. As many as 700 000 somali refugees has returned to Somaliland since 1991. Threatened by the war in Somalia, people in Somaliland hope to be recognized as a real country, so that they can continue their life in peace.
