Bjørn DjupvikView over Sointula from the ferry
Sointula is as small comunity on a litle island far out on the coast of British Columbia in Canada. The comunity was formed by a finnish socialist in 1900, and he wanted the place to live out the socialist dreams. The name Sointula means "place of harmony". They became bankrupt 4 years later. Many of todays inhabitants are decented from the finnish immigrants, and they mostly live of salmon fishing, but their livehood are threatened by competition and deseases from the growing salmon farming industry.
