The hometown of President George W. Bush
"I don't know what percentage of me is Midland... but I would say people, if they want to understand me, need to understand Midland and the attitude of Midland." - George W. Bush
Almost as was it on an island lies a town in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by a yellow ocean of sand, green dry bushes and rocking oilpumps. That is Midland, Texas. An isolated town with about 100.000 inhabitants that depend almost entirely on the oil industry. A concentrated republican area, that puts God before anything else. All the way out here in the buckle of the American Bible Belt where George W. Bush grew up.
